Read the attached primary source documents on Athens (pages 44-46) and Sparta (pages 46-50). Based on the reading, and not what you can glean from the Internet, select four quotations each about Athens and Sparta that reveal what you feel are the most important aspects of their culture and explain what each quotation indicates. In other words, what is at the heart of Athenian/Spartan culture? You might consider the following . . . What do they pride themselves on? What does it mean to be a good Athenian/Spartan? What values do they hold most dear? What do they prize most in their culture?
Then, select one thing about Sparta that the Athenians would find objectionable and explain why, and one thing about Athens that the Spartans would find detestable. Finally, pick out one attribute/value that they both shared.
